One of the things I love about the Kindle app on my phone is that when I travel I don’t have to worry about space. Another benefit is that I don’t consider whether or not I am close to the end of a book, if I finish–I always have more to read waiting.
While traveling for Christmas I finished “Safely Home” by Randy Alcorn, a free download from Amazon. There is a thought from the book that keeps popping up in my mind. One character always gets his wife an orange for Christmas. He was unable to do it during the timeline of the book, and when he finds out one was provided for her, he praises God.
The other character considers that he has never praised God for an orange. When I went shopping for my kid’s stockings this thought echoed in my brain the whole night. Not only did this guy praise God for an orange–he praised God for one he didn’t even eat!
This is an enjoyable read, but it is a lasting experience as well. The kind of book that opens your perspective. The author and the cover artist have donated all the proceeds to the persecuted church. See the Eternal Perspective Ministries website.
Since I received the book for free: I wanted to buy one to support the ministry.
