Books

When I was a kid, I believed books were other-worldly, sacred. I thought that merely being in print made them worth reading.

But that is like saying if something is spoken out loud–it becomes truth.

I was an adult before I realized I did not have to finish every book I started. I don’t remember the first book I stopped, but I remember it sitting on my dresser for many months. I wanted to read something else, but didn’t believe I was allowed to cast a book aside like that. Instead, I read nothing.

Doesn’t that sound like the work of an overzealous librarian or teacher?

While I do believe books are one of the top 2-3 assets for learning, not every book is for every person, or for every season of life.

Except the Bible.
